Dallas County Residents Ordered to Shelter in Place According to Judge

Judge Clay Jenkins in Dallas County ordered residents to shelter in place. A similar order for the entire state could go into effect soon.

What does the Shelter in Place Order mean?

Here is what the Order reads:

"All individuals currently living within Dallas County are ordered to shelter at their place of residence,"

"For the purposes of this Order, residences include hotels, motels, shared rentals, and similar facilities. To the extent individuals are using shared or outdoor spaces, they must at all times as reasonably as possible maintain social distancing of at least six feet from any other person when they are outside their residence."

All essential businesses in the area will remain open and accessible. Hospitals, grocery stores, pharmacies, and other essential businesses that are allowed to remain open must still keep people 6 feet apart.

Dallas County has reported 131 cases as of Sunday, March 22nd.

A state-wide shelter in place order could go into effect if Governor Abbott places the order into effect.

Similar heavily populated counties such as Harris County and Bexar County might place similar orders in effect.
