Rioters who decided to loot Apple Stores will not be able to use ANY of the devices they stole. Apple has put into place special technology that knows if the device has been taken from the store.
If taken from the store the gadget will read:
"Please return to Apple Walnut Street"
"This device has been disabled and is being tracked. Local authorities will be alerted."
Every piece of equipment in Apple Stores on the showroom tables are all supposedly demos... which means they don't actually work, they aren't sellable, and they are tracked. From laptops to new iPhones, they are all useless weight if stolen from the store.
Even if they were to be sold, whoever turns the device on will see the same disabled message.
Kudos to Apple for always being one step ahead of everything 👏 🍎

Apple Stores in affected areas have closed their doors, and some have even been boarded up as they prepare for future looters coming through.
